BAKEA Symposium is open to all participants from the fields of English Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature, French and German Language and Literary Studies, Comparative Literature, Translation Studies.

The 8th BAKEA (International Western Cultural and Literary Studies Symposium), the first of which was initiated and organized in 2009 by the Department of Western Languages and Literatures at Pamukkale University, will be held at Marmara University, jointly hosted by Departments of English, German and French Language Literature; Departments of French, German and English Translation.

 

The global environmental crisis urges us all to rethink the limits of human-centred approaches in humanities. Debates concerning the categories of race, gender and society have amplified dramatically, giving rise to the posthuman, the human, and the non-human as new perspectives that question anthropocentric assumptions of traditional humanism. This shift has culminated in the flourishing of new narratives which zoom in on the relationship between the human and the non-human in all its forms.

We invite broad and inclusive literary, linguistic, and cultural approaches, individual papers and team panels including but not limited to the following topics:
